25-Jan-2001

Committed a few changes to CVS (track number in ID3 tag, font size in dialogs, cddb POST fix) and updated the current archive on the download page.

18-Oct-2000:

New vorb_enc.dll available - about 20% faster than last released version.

31-Aug-2000:

Caught bug that disabled all but two of the Ogg Vorbis modes, and so rereleased the binary archives. If you downloaded on 30-Aug-2000, you'll need to do so again if you want all of the modes for Vorbis.

30-Aug-2000:

Released v0.19, which has a whole slew of improvements. Now supports more modes for Ogg Vorbis, M3U playlisting, file naming macros, can write CD info to CDPLAYER.INI. The new modes for Ogg Vorbis correspond to their beta 2 release.

28-Jun-2000:

Released v0.18 as v0.18a, after discovering a bug that affected the generation of WAV file headers and leaked file handles.

27-Jun-2000:

Along with the 0.18 release I'm very happy to announce that xtractor now supports the Ogg Vorbis audio format! Support is provided in the form of a new encoder DLL, vorb_enc.dll, which is linked against libvorbis and vorbisfile from Xiph.org. Ogg Vorbis is a new format, currently in Beta testing, that produces high-quality compressed audio files using an open-source, patent-free algorithm (unlike MP3, which is not open and not patent-free). You can also download a WinAmp plugin for playing .ogg files from www.vorbis.com. Other notable changes in this release include an option to output raw data to a file in addition to WAV and the compressed formats, and JPG files in the HTML help files have been replaced with PNG files.

07-Jun-2000:

v0.17 released. Added project files for MSVC. Added option to make encode/rip threads "nice".

10-May-2000:

v0.16 released. Fixed a few minor bugs and cleaned up compiler warnings. Changed the default CDDB servers to cddb.cddb.com and freedb.freedb.org.

16-Mar-2000:

v0.15 released. Fixed a problem with older versions of Lame_enc.dll. Added new toolbar buttons.

09-Mar-2000:

Flat toolbar (or "coolbar", if you speak Microsoft-ese) changes checked into CVS. It was a real PITA, since when you use TBSTYLE_FLAT in a call to CreateWindowEx() to create the toolbar, the system automatically adds the TBSTYLE_TRANSPARENT style to the toolbar as well. Of course, none of this is in the documentation for the TBSTYLE_FLAT on MSDN. The workaround is to create the toolbar normally, and then add the flat style to the window before adding buttons and images.

03-Mar-2000:

Removed and re-added all binary files in CVS, this time marking them as "binary", and posted a new source code archive with the corrected files.

25-Feb-2000:

v0.14 of CD-DA X-Tractor released on its new home at SourceForge.
